You’re always right

My darling Pari,

I am smiling insanely as I am struggling to type with my left hand and index finger of the right hand. Yeah it’s been four months since I cracked my right wrist. The only medicine that can cure me and my pain is giving rest to the joint. Right hand at rest when I have an infant to take care of is totally wrong. I mean impossible.

Before you think I am madly in love with you for I am laughing like a crazy despite the excruciating pain, let me tell you the reason behind it. Ever since you’ve learnt to turn your head around, you’ve selected right over left though it is the wrong thing to do. No matter what I might try to make you sleep on the left hand side, you’ll roll, fight, grumble, coo and try every trick in your capacity to finally turn your head to the right side.

If I sit or sleep to your left you decide to ignore mum for sometime. You’d rather stare the dull wall and give up your all time favorite TV just to keep your head tilted to the right hand side. It was a game in the start but has slowly become a point of worry for me. I can’t see your delicate head flatten from the right side. It sends bouts of panic in me keeping me awake all night just to check if you’ve been trying to turn your head against all my efforts.

I’ve tried using baby pillows of various shapes, with a variety of contents (foam, feathers, cotton and even mustard seeds),tried putting rolls of towel and even piles of sheets to prevent you from turning to the right just to end up seeing you sleeping with your head on your favorite side. These constant attempts of turning your head and supporting your gentle body often bring tears to my eyes (not out of frustration but cause of pain in my wrist). The triumphant smile you give each time you succeed in turning your head against all my efforts makes me enjoy them all the more hence I’d been smiling when I started typing this post.

Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest. ~ Mark Twain

While we continue our fight for right and left, I pray we enjoy every moment, every difficulty, every pain and learn to smile away to live life to the fullest. Amen!

Be a good girl and listen to your mum for though she’s insisting on the left but she is mostly right Winky

Loads of love and blessings

  1. Oh Buzz was just like that. Always looked to her right. Got a flat head and then she started turning over and sitting and walking and things changed on there own. Her head is perfectly round now. So give it some time. 🙂

And do take care of your wrist.
