Pierced

My darling Pari,

It’s been a very eventful day today. Full of emotions, heat, humidity, action, fear, sweat, tears and pain. Another major milestone in our lives before you reach your first birthday.

Let me begin with an amazing finding that I came across early morning. In this (almost) one year journey, I have lost the exact same amount of weight from the day you were born as you weigh today. I can’t help myself from laughing whenever I think of this silly coincidence.

As planned ahead, we had your ears pierced before your first birthday. I have been thinking of getting this done from a long time, but something or the other kept me occupied. It was last week that the plan finally fell in place and today my little darling had her ears pierced.

I won’t go into the details of the piercing experience, but there are a few things that deserve a mention. I am mighty impressed with your courage, tolerance and the way you reacted to pain. I can say the same about myself. I had expected myself to go weak when you’ll cry, I had feared breaking down at the sight of seeing you in pain. But, we both managed very well. You are indeed my strength darling, for though my heart cringed at your blood curdling scream, tears refused to roll down.

The funny part of the whole experience was, you were fine in matters of minutes but the lady who actually pierced your ears had to bear the brunt of giving you pain. For you really kicked her hard and held a very tight grip on her fingers, making her get really panicked (though for a fraction of a second, but still) and uncomfortable.

It’s amazing how painful memories generate stories that’ll be joyfully cherished for our lifetimes. I was impressed by the way you actually fought back when subjected to pain, though I had to restrain you from doing so. You teach me wonderful lessons in your sweet little ways, the lessons which I somehow have forgotten in the years of my growing up. It’s time I revise them with you.

As I see you admire yourself and the new hoops in the mirror, am reminded of the times, I used to do the same for I was way older (around 6 years old) when I had my ears pierced.

Have tons of fun and enjoy life with colourful, sparkling trinkets, danglers, hoops, studs and many more in the days to come.

Loads of love and blessings,

Mum

  3. Ear piercing, an experience in itself for the mom. Pari won’t even remember it. What do they use now, I think guns instead of the traditional method?

  4. Aww this was such a touching post Me. I can see you looking at Pari from a distance as you write this feeling proud of her. And you need to be…. she is an amazing child, very adorable and inspiring too.

From my own personal experience I strongly believe that children understand everything. And sometimes they act as angels/ messengers telling us things God wants us to know.

Sending loads of love to Pari…

    1. I agree PT, kids do understand everything whether they express it or not. That realization adds to the responsibility of being a parent manifold.
      Love and hugs dear:)
