Eighteen

  1. Pari loves eating using a spoon. So much so that most of the times she tries to fit in even morsels of Roti in her spoon before taking them to her mouth. I must admit she’s pretty good at it.
  2. She still dislikes anyone messing with her hair, trying to put oil or shampoo. This was old news. The latest being she absolutely abhors anyone trying to tie her hair or even try putting a hair clip. If you do dare put a clip, she’ll find it in a matter of a nano-second and it’ll either end up between her teeth or on the floor.
  3. Pari loves sharing. Be it her toys or food. She gives everyone a chance to cuddle her toys once she’s given them a tight hug. She feeds me with her spoon, imitating me, till she feels I am done.
  4. She has inherited the OCD for cleaning from me. You can spot her cleaning her high chair, her bed, the floor and everything in her proximity from time to time. She dislikes creases in bed sheets just like me and tries her best to remove them with her little hands even when she’s very sleepy.
  5. The story she enjoys or more correctly I enjoy telling her at bed time is a Panchtantra tale of a Monkey & Crocodile. Though she understands only part of it, but I guess I narrate it in a very boring way that she falls asleep in no time.
  6. Pari loves pouting her lips and her favorite word these days is ‘SHOE’ followed by ‘SOCKS’. She loves the sound of it and tries to utter them every now & then.
  7. She is still a big Kareena fan and hence after Halkat Jawani, Fevicol se is what she likes. Though these days she’s more focused on playing with toys than dancing to Kareena’s songs.
  8. Her all time favorite songs are Gummy Bear & Lakdi ki Kaathi (movie – Masoom).
  9. Pari has started liking chocolates, though other sweets are still a no-no.
  10. Her favorite toy these days is a cuddly little cat, that gets bitten, smothered, kissed, hugged and beaten up by her loving master.
  11. Paneer is slowly becoming her favorite outdoor food. In every party/ wedding she eats only Paneer. Thankfully it is always there in the menu.
  12. She enjoys dancing and is always ready to shake and twist provided the music appeals to her, which happens almost always.
  13. Pari loves tea. Yeah she enjoys having a few sips every morning with her breakfast from my dad’s cup.
  14. She now has a set sleeping routine at night. *touch wood**touch wood**touch wood**touch wood*
  15. She enjoys tearing newspaper to bits the minute she gets hold of one. This habit hasn’t changed at all.
  16. She enjoys playing with blocks and building abstract objects.
  17. Pari has no interest in cartoons. Not even in Tom & Jerry. Though she likes Pluto, Chip and Dale.
  18. She is now eighteen months old. This is the very first time I have felt that time flies with a baby in the house.

The song on my mind: Yun hi kat jaayega safar ~ Hum hai Raahi Pyar ke

  4. It is so nice to read all those small small things that makes someone’s life. Yes, time flies with children around. I haven’t experienced it but I have heard too many people say that. 🙂

    1. I have started feeling that time is flying for Pari has started learning new things at a very rapid pace so everyday she’s changing and I am working overtime to capture all these moments in one way or the other 🙂

    1. I was expecting this question from the time I had written about Pari’s tea drinking habit 🙂
Babies are allowed to eat anything that we adults eat after the age of 12 months. As far tea we do take care to limit it to a few sips. Besides, my father has his tea without sugar, so she has the milk + tea combination (for she too isn’t fond of sugar).

The funny part is, after this post, I got to hear from quite a number of mums that their babies too have been drinking sips of tea but they never mention it for the fear of how this is often viewed in our society. Funny na 😉

      1. In my case I have no previous experience…just curiosity about what I’ve heard 🙂 So the question is completely innocent.
No I wasn’t thinking about the sugar… it’s more about the caffeine. Felt she is a little young to be introduced to that… maybe after 3-4 years of age? But then I am no one to judge… I always uphold that mommies know best 🙂

        1. C’mon Ash offcourse your query was an innocent one and even if a mommy had asked it to me I would have credited her to being plain curious for it is something we often hear being denied to young kids 🙂

I can totally understand your sweet concern 😀

  5. WOW! A Pari bhari post 🙂 She is so musically inclined ME – so cute! I imagined her doing that – tryign the rotis on spoon and then undoing the “mess” with her hair :
You are like watching one awesoe live show!
and that monkey and crocodile is the one where the crocodile’s wife wants to eat the monkey off? Panchatantra has so many crocodile monkey stories 🙂
