When I embarked on parenting journey,

I hoped life, baby and myself to exist in harmony,

Then experiences happened,

Like Pandora’s box was opened,

I panicked, shrieked, read and asked,

But only in confusion I basked,

Then it dawned on me,

Discipline, obedience, love, autonomy,

Can exist only in amity.

The Yin and Yang came to play,

Allowing parent  child to  coexist happily,

Unconditional love with ample space,

Were needed to help feel competence and acceptance,

I needed to be receptive, allowing autonomy,

And stop being a pushy mommy,

I had to promote resilience,

With natural development of independence,

The Yin and Yang had started spinning,

Showing me how I had to let energies blend,

Into one to co-exist.

While mentoring I need to set clear boundaries,

Allowing open fences without worries,

Where no one felt like a captive,

With room for developing qualities,

Behaviours being adapted,

Rage, frustration, failures and disrespect,

Wouldn’t trespass or be a bother.

Life bloomed with amends made,

Not letting happiness and warmth fade,

Let the dark and light blend,

With maturity to append,

Compassion, understanding and support flow,

So that little kids would know,

That parents seek nothing in absolute,

With fun and flexibility we will execute,

All that life made us to be,

Gifting a pragmatic vision effortlessly.

As a parent seek nothing in totality,

Let your child be your strength, standing by you in unity,

Nourish, thrive, leave negativity behind,

Never let anger, hurry or fatigue make you blind,

Take risks,

Play,

Get messy,

Learn and you shall earn,

Precious love and care that you yearn.

Beyond the circle of saying ‘Yes’ or ‘No‘,

Nourish the tiny souls,

To emerge self-directed,

Be self-motivated,

Become Respectable, responsible adults,

Let the dualities of interdependence continue,

With flowing energy, we’ll achieve successes anew.

According to Taoist principles, the forces of everything in the universe are in constant motion. As the movement continues, each of the forces of energy gradually changes to the other, yin to yang and yang to yin.

 The meaning of the yin yang symbol encompasses harmony and balance within the universe.

The same holds true with parents and children, our energies, learnings and growing up continues in harmony with lessons being constantly exchanged and our bond strengthening with each interaction. For our coexistence, acceptance of our individual capabilities and giving independence to each other with love is a must to strike balance.
