Bon Voyage

I have visited this page at least 20 times in the past 15 days when I have been away from blogging.

Every day, I scribble a title (yes, I always decide a title before I start writing) let the steam of the thoughts in my mind power my keyboard for a few lines and then I stop. To think what more I have to do in the day, and that’s when I lose focus, procrastinate and eventually end up not publishing anything on the blog.

day1

But today is different. I have been fidgeting with the idea of embarking on writing more regularly (not daring to utter writing daily, just yet) all year but this desperation has taken a more steep turn lately. After letting go of the first of the ten months of 2016, I finally decided that enough was enough. It had to happen now. I couldn’t put it off any longer.

So, November, I am hoping to paint you in words, dress you up in my love for writing and watch my blog bloom (defying autumn) like I’d love to see it. I have signed up for the NaBloPoMo this month. You too can join in by clicking on the badge in my sidebar.

Ever since I started this blog, the one advise that has constantly been shared by my readers is the need to practice gratitude. It is one topic everyone is equivocal about. No matter, how many times I thank life for the bounty of gifts and joys it has given me, which by the way comes naturally to me, I have never been successful in maintaining a gratitude journal or being regular at this practice.  I tried hard, but beyond putting the day’s date I have never been able to write anything in the little notebook I summoned for this task.

Recently, I was reading an article on gratitude when I stumbled upon a rather fancy term ‘Deliberate Gratitude’ defined vaguely as a habit of practising gratitude consciously rather than leaving it to chance. It has been proclaimed to change the way we see life, our experiences, people around us and also the people who have been offering service without waiting for us to thank them.

This was the nudge that I needed all this while. Or, perhaps the final weight that had to be lifted to set my gratitude boat sailing. I have been working hard at inculcating the habit of thinking about the events of my day and silently expressing gratitude for everything that happened to me, everything that someone did for me. It didn’t have any magical effects from day one but gradually (in the course of the week since I have started practising it) I have come to see so much good that I had been overlooking all this while.

I have come to see my life, my relationship with Pari (more details on this coming up this month) and my family, my encounters, my present life and so many other things in a different light. It is like, I am being exposed to the many layers and shades of the things I considered to be monochromatic and one-dimensional all along.

Today, I am grateful to have successfully managed to write a blog-post on the 1st of the month, a positive step towards my dream of painting my thoughts in words more regularly. I am positive that driven by the positive thoughts and the ambition to make every thought count, I can write away like never before.

So here’s wishing myself Bon Voyage on the journey of blogging daily, all November.

    1. Seeing you do it has been a great push for me to take this up. If you can cook everyday to write about it I can surely cook up a blogpost everyday, somehow.
Let’s rock it together Shalzzz ❤

  1. Welcoooomeee ME! 🙂 So glad that you will be writing more this month. I look forward to reading you. I wasn’t aware of the term, “Deliberate Gratitude” but this is something I have been practising a bit in my life too, just picking events, people, actions and outcomes am grateful for. Sometimes when something doesn’t go according to plan, this really helps 🙂 And it is also amazing how you can connect the dots and feel more grateful in hindsight.

    1. Thank you sweetie ❤
I have been practicing gratitude on and off but never did it like a daily ritual. This time I am working on making the shift to experience the joy of seeing life's beauty like never before.
Glad to note that you are already doing it. Let's stay put and make our life more content & beautiful.

    1. Thank you Uma 🙂
Yes, a journal should make things more disciplined and would definitely be our bank of many little joys to fall back on when going gets tough. Let’s do it this time.

    Hey ME!
The “Deliberate Gratitude” is one term I try to practice but have been failing miserably. Circumstances maybe and I am still not able to convince myself about a situation that could have turned out to be worst. This post makes me think about it.

I am so looking forward to the entire month. Good luck with the writing challenge! 😊

    1. I am new to adopting ‘Deliberate Gratitude’ myself. And the real test are the times when you are unflinchingly grateful even when things have gone the wrong way.
But, when so many people whom I know have benefitted from practicing it, it surely deserves a dedicated try. Let’s do it together to achieve the dream of leading a content life.
Thank you so much for the wishes Ramya ❤

  5. Finally I’m here! I feel you are in fact one of the most consistent bloggers, in terms of frequency and content. Your posts have a theme to them, and make me think. That itself is a big win!
So all the best for the marathon, you will do great for sure 😀

  6. I also write the title first and then only start off with the post 🙂
I love that you are taking mini steps without making a big deal out of it. I always feel this goes a long way 🙂
Deliberate gratitude will eventually become a habit. You will see.

    1. I am staying patient and positive of deliberate gratitude working to make me feel like more content than what I feel now.
Yay! So glad that you too start by deciding the title first 🙂
