How To Believe You Can Lose Weight?

Have you ever had a dream or a desire so strong that you can’t stop thinking about it?

You dream about it at night, you visualize yourself doing it during awake hours.

You’re planning for it while chopping vegetables and taking out trash and changing your baby’s diaper.

You want it so bad that you sometimes find yourself biting your tongue to stop yourself from talking about it because you are too scared of failing again.

Yes, I said failing again.

That means you have tried achieving this goal in the past, had all the people around you excited only to give up or fail miserably at it.

Has it happened to you?

It happened to me while trying to lose weight. I tried, lost a few pounds only to regain them back and some more. And as a result the backlash I received from the people around me made re-trying all the more painful.

Until one day, I decided to give my weight-loss efforts my all. To dive in and to not stop till I achieved the results I wanted.

It was one of the most difficult decisions I ever made, because of two reasons:

  1. I didn’t believe in myself that I could do it this time.
  2. No one around me believed I could do it either (because of #1)

The only choice I was left with was to either give up on my dream of being lean and fit or to try anyway.

Choosing the latter helped me lose 60 pounds, boosted my confidence in doing hard things and taught me an important lesson that has changed my life for the better.

The lesson I learnt was: How to believe you can achieve your goal when you’ve failed miserably in the past.

I was reminded of the same when someone part of the Healthy You Challenge – the 21-day weight-loss and wellness foundation challenge asked me the same question.

So I went ahead and recorded my answer in a video.

Recording videos has been a huge step for me.

Being an extreme introvert who has been blogging for over a decade without sharing any pictures of herself has finally decided to conquer her fears.

I’ve started sharing pictures and also recording videos. You can find them all on my Instagram.

And may I say, despite all the imperfections, I am proud of myself for taking the first step. I hope this video inspires you to do the same in the direction of the goals you’ve set for yourself.
